com We welcome trades This Italian-market 1972 Fiat 500 was acquired by the seller locally in Palermo, Sicily, and has since undergone a full Jolly-style restoration.
It was subject to extensive labor including replacement metal bodywork, a new wicker interior, and overhauled brakes, suspension, and electrical systems as well as a rebuilt 499cc inline-twin engine and 4-speed manual transaxle.
The seller notes that roughly 90% of the car's parts were replaced during the restoration while using many original Fiat pieces.
This Fiat 500 was fully disassembled and restored with genuine replacement Fiat body panels including the nose, front & rear fenders, wheel well arches, inner valence, battery tray, rocker panels, floorboards, A-pillars, and taillight panels.
The bodywork was then carefully prepped and primed, and finished in a green 1970s Porsche color using three coats of acrylic paint topped with two layers of clear coat.
The exterior was wet-sanded and polished for a deep shine.
The seller notes all the sheet metal was also sealed and rust-proofed during the restoration.
The Jolly-style body conversion eliminates the doors and replaces the fixed roof panel with a fringed surrey canopy along with a shortened windscreen.
Other restoration items included stainless steel trim, lights, and glass.
Equipment includes chrome bumpers, a removable storage basket, side-mounted grab rails, and painted 12 steel wheels dressed in Atlas whitewall tires.
Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
The cabin features a new dashboard pad and wicker seats along with a two-spoke steering wheel that frames a Veglia Borletti speedometer that indicates suggested shift points.
The restoration also included all new rubber gaskets and weather seals as well as an overhaul of the electrical system.
All gauges and accessories are said to be fully functional.
Power comes from an air-cooled 499cc inline-twin engine which was rebuilt along with the car's 4-speed manual transaxle.
The seller notes the drum brakes were also overhauled during the restoration along with new suspension bushings and components.
